As the sun disappeared behind the rugged mountains, a group of children gathered around their grandfather beneath an old date palm. There were no mobile phones, no television, and no distractions. Only the gentle evening breeze and the voice of a man whose memories carried the weight of generations.
He began with the words every child loved to hear:
"Long before our time..."
He spoke of brave travelers crossing deserts by the stars, of shepherds who knew every valley by name, of hospitality offered without question, and of promises that were valued more than wealth. His stories were not written in books. They lived in hearts, passed from one generation to the next.
The children listened with wonder.
Years later, the village changed. Roads replaced old paths. Technology connected people across continents. The children grew up and moved to different cities and countries. The grandfather's chair beneath the palm tree remained empty.
One day, the youngest grandchild searched for those stories online.
There were thousands of websites filled with news and opinions, but very few places where the wisdom, traditions, language, and memories of the Baloch people had been carefully preserved.
That realization became a reminder.
A culture does not disappear in a single day. It fades slowly when its stories are no longer told, its songs are no longer sung, and its traditions are no longer remembered.
Every family photograph, every traditional recipe, every poem, every folk tale, every piece of embroidery, every forgotten word of the Balochi language is a page of our shared history.
If we preserve these today, future generations will not have to search for their roots. They will simply open a book, visit a museum, or explore a place where their heritage is alive.
Stories are more than memories.
They are bridges between the past and the future.
Let us keep telling them.
